Accessible Holidays

We have carefully and unobtrusively designed three of the farm cottages (Bulbarrow, Melbury and Duncliffe) to meet national accessible standards.

They have retained tremendous character with old beams, log fires, etc, whilst still meeting these stringent standards.

We are delighted to have won a Holiday Care National Accessible Award and to have had complimentary articles written about the cottages in the national press.

Each cottage has a ground floor accessible bedroom, adjacent bathroom, kitchen, living and dining area. Each has an additional first floor twin bedroom. Bulbarrow Cottage has a very big upstairs bedroom which can easily take three beds. There is also a large, galleried landing big enough to take an extra bed in Bulbarrow and Melbury Cottages.

In addition to their individual features, Bulbarrow and Melbury Cottages have widened doors, light switches and sockets at waist height, level carpeted floors, remote control television and lever taps.

We can also provide various specialist items: mobile hoist, monkey pulls, bath seats and aids, cot sides, chair raisers, tray tables, waterproof sheets, etc. We are happy to help you organise support care from one of the local agencies if required.

As much as possible, we have tried to make the farmyard accessible, so the whole family can enjoy the life of the farm.

Shopping
The village shop will deliver groceries before and during your stay. There are also supermarkets in nearby Shaftesbury.

Laundry
There is a laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

Games Barn
With table tennis and pool table. This is also a room where all
members of a group can get together.

Swimming
We give all our guests free swimming at a superb private leisure centre in a nearby public school. This has a lovely pool with fully accessible swimming (hoist available
if required) Most sessions are supervised. The bar and viewing gallery are also accessible.

Each cottage is provided with detailed information and guides to many of the local accessible places to eat, including lots of good village pubs. Here are a few ideas which other guests have enjoyed.
